Find YOUR Strengths

What a breathe of fresh air to focus on what is RIGHT about us rather then bemoaning and wasting time on what is WRONG with us. My friend Taryn gave me one of the single most bestest presents ever…..Stregth Finder 2.0
check it out I’m a bit obsessed lately with personality quizes and the like (Jung typology quiz, but is sooooo much nicer to know there is real research into the way we hum not to mention how we connect with each other (think of the motivational tools we are armed with for our clients when we can communicate on these levels).
My 5 greatest strengths are: Acheiver (big surprise…this seems to be the reason I MUST clean the house even on my day off), Maximizer, Relator, Significance and Strategic. It is definatley helping me assert myself and know that I own these strengths and should just rock ‘em. What are YOUR strengths?

New Year - New Opportunities

In the New Year there is always an infusion of bodies and people in the gym. This year is no different. My classes are packed and there are emails and phone calls requesting personal training. All good t hings, whatever gets people thinking and talking about taking better care of themselves, body, mind and spirit, is a good thing and great opportunity.

But what is the goal once they are in the room on the mat? I use the title/phrase/branding ‘pimp your mat’ to leave it open to any format you may be practicing; yoga, simple core work, stretching, pilates or resistance training etc. For some bodies it may be simple caloric burn. For others it’s the only time to go within, connect to their breath and really find their true selves (strength, relaxation…etc) and no matter how basic we claim our purpose to be it’s always deeper and always connected to our ego or our journey to release it.

As instructors, the best we can hope for in our classroom, is for people to enjoy their time in class. Perhaps it will go further than that and if not, it is a waste of time. That’s me, as an instructor who loves to see a full room of people waiting to be lead, guided and willing to take themselves on a path of self discovery, telling students to do something else if it simply isn’t any fun what-so-ever.

Whatever brings you ‘to the mat’ enjoy it. OR just allow it to be indifferent. See what transpires. Try not to load your New Year and New Possibilities with old, unserving, stuck stuff. Why ruin a perfectly good workout;)
